Mission Statement:

The mission of the Friends of Runnymede Park is to protect, enhance, and preserve the physical, natural, and cultural heritage of this special public parkland in the Town of Herndon.

Throughout the year we will be offering guided walks in the park, highlighting birds, native plants, insects, frogs.

2018 and 2019 Events:

Bird Walk, Saturday, December 8, 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Winter birds are here and Jonathan Lacher will lead an educational walk through the park to see how many we can find. Meet in the parking lot at 8am and the walk will end around 10:30am. Wear sturdy footwear. Bring binoculars if you have them, but if you don’t, we have some to lend. No fee or registration required..

Annual Meeting, Sunday, March 10, time and place to be determined

Our guest speaker will be Leslie Sturges, with her “Save Lucy, the Bat” campaign. The program is designed for families, and we will be able to observe live bats.  For more information, click here Annual Meeting 2019

Town Parks and Stream Clean Up, Saturday, April 6, 7:00 AM - 12:00 NOON

Spring Native Plant Sale, Saturday, May 18, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Fall Native Plant Sale, Saturday, September 21, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Runnymede Park

Purchase locally grown, pesticide-free, native plants.  Watermark Woods, located in Hamilton, VA., and Nature By Design from Alexandria, VA, will be in the park ready to answer questions, give advice, and help you choose beautiful native plants for your gardens.  For more information, click here Native Plant Sale

NatureFest 2019, Sunday, September 29, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Nature fun and learning for the whole family with activity stations throughout the park.
